Liza Benedict Sharp

Liza has been tutoring in various contexts since 1993.  She has tutored students in elementary through high school and has taught high school, college and graduate courses.  Liza has tutored across the disciplines. specializing in English, Math (Algebra I, II, and Geometry), History, and SAT prep. While Liza tutors in most subjects, she primarily focuses on study skills, empowering the student to continue to study successfully outside of tutorials. Liza personally enjoys learning, and strives to inspire students to become life-long learners.

Liza graduated magna cum laude with degrees in English and Youth Ministry. She also earned a  Massachusetts Secondary Education Certification.  She went on to get her Masters in Global Leadership, graduating with a 4.0.  She has tremendous experience inside and outside of the classroom. Liza has worked with teens all over the world as a Youth Director, Teacher, Trainer, Counselor and Personal Tutor. In whatever position she has held, she has been most interested in accompanying young people as they learn: supporting them, challenging them, and encouraging them.

Liza grew up in the mountains of Vermont, performing in the numerous theater productions. She has traveled the country and the world working with youth. She has taught in New England public and private schools, worked with gang kids in Northern California, led leadership development programs in Mexico, worked as a Resident Director in Houston and taught at the University of Uganda. She has led service teams all over the globe and while she adores traveling and empowering teens she is most at home in New England and is in her element adventuring with her husband and son along the rocky coasts.
