Philosophy of Tutorials
It is my intention to engage students where they are and seek to challenge them to embrace learning. I believe in student-motivated tutorials, where they view themselves as responsible for the work that is before them as well as for becoming a lifelong learner. As a tutor I am a resource to them: to hold them accountable, to offer study strategies, to reflect back to them what they have learned, and to highlight for them what work there is still ahead. While I have an understanding of the material I work on with the students, I point to their teacher as the expert. I believe tutorials are a supplement to the learning that is already happening in the classroom.
